My Goal formula was not solving correctly and was resulting in a blank wch cascaded issues through the rest of the module.  I saw the solution in  another thread about removing the the Version reference from the Role Goals module, but I do not understand why having the Version defined on the Role Goals module makes a difference in the resolution of the lookup?

I see that the references for the Role and Region do not use the Version dimension, but the resultant Goal line item does as does he module itself.  Is there a restriction on the cross dimensional context of data in a formula such that all arguments on the right hand side of the formula must be consistent?

TIA,

Steve

Thank you for the info Amanda.

In my case, when loading thedata I had defined it to go to the fixed version of Forecast.  As it was in the correct dimensionality, however the formula was still resolving to a blank until I removed the Version dimension from the Role Goal module.

I would have assumed that there is an inference done by the system where there is common dimensionality between modules.  In this case Role Goals and the Rep Quota would use Forecast as the default in the formula referencing Role Goals when that is selected in the Rep Quota module and similar for Actual.  That did not seem to be the case and nothing was returned until I removed Version from the module definition for Role Goals.

While I appreciate what you are describing about why Version was excluded from the Role Goals module I am still not understanding why the formula does not resolve correctly when Forecast is the selected version in both modules and data was loaded into the Forecast Version.
