Chrome default setting for Google G Suite Gmail to use with email link or MailTo

If you click on an email link or MailTo link and your Gmail doesn't open up in another tab, make sure that the protocol handlers in the Chrome browser is set correctly.   

 

 

 

 

This is what your setting should look like:

If your email is not set to default to Gmail, make sure the "Sites can ask to handle protocols" boolean is checked.  

Next, open up a new tab and type in "mail.google.com."   You should see the same "double diamond" symbol to the right of the address. Click on it and check "Allow" when prompted to allow mail.google.com to open all email links.

 

 

Now when you click on an email link within Anaplan, your Chrome browser should default to Gmail.

When I checked my settings, it was set to to Gmail as the default already and clicking the email link in Anaplan did not open up a new tab.  By trial and error, it seems that if you remove "mail.google.com" from the protocol handler, and then repeat the steps to add it back (see previous screenshots), the default Gmail will open up again.
