PowerPoint Add-in 1.6, 1.7 "Ghost Installation"

This item has been identified as an outstanding known issue.

Issue

When installing a later version of our PowerPoint Add-in, if a machine has both 1.6 and 1.7  installed, you will be left in a state where both programs exist in your list of programs but neither function (missing in the ribbon of PowerPoint) and you will also be unable to uninstall 1.6.

Workaround

To Workaround this you will need to follow these steps:

 

  • uninstall 1.7
  • Reinstall 1.6 (removes the "ghost" installation)
  • Uninstall 1.6 (this will be successful now)
  • Install the latest version (1.8)

Also note that having multiple versions installed at the same time will also cause no Add-in to be present in the ribbon of PowerPoint. To avoid this please ensure you are uninstalling prior versions first.
