@BenHilgendorf shares that "Requirement gathering is one of the most important aspects of an Anaplan build. If done thoroughly, it will give stakeholders a quality product with a quick time to deployment" in the blog post Winning at Wireframing.

As CoE leaders,
  • What's your view on upfront requirement gathering/wireframing vs. fast and iterative requirement gathering process?
  • What tips can you offer fellow CoE leaders to help them get buy-in from key stakeholders to define requirements clearly?

I especially love the sentiment around "For model builders, a wireframe is worth a thousand words."!

@BenHilgendorf  strikes again with golden wisdom!!

Totally agree that this is something other customers have mentioned in the past...especially @derek_chen. Derek - I know you've been working on something like this with your team and was close to perfecting it. What processes and qualification requirements were formalized?

Thorough and well prepared (budgeted - in both time and money) discovery phase can save tons of money in development and in go live phase. I would say, that wireframing is more necessary, than was my original feeling. Iterative process is good, but always better to do iteration from close by, than from different universe.

@JiriPalasek, well said! Iterations can add more value to the model/design if there are clearly defined requirements upfront.

I think the best advice I would give any COE Lead is to always make sure they have

    1. The correct people in the room
    2. Understanding of upstream and downstream impact
    3. Understanding of teams current capacity with build work

These three things have been essential as you try to get stakeholders buy in.

@coraparks Thank you for the feedback! The first 2 points you mentioned may also help with process standardization, process optimization, and change management as teams begin implementing solutions in Anaplan.
