Polaris Updates in Classic?

I just completed the Introduction to Polaris course and was curious if any of the modeling updates are planned to also make their way into Classic? Specifically the following:

  • New "Cancel Calculation" functionality to cancel ongoing calculations
    • Would this allow builders to not have to wait for an errant formula to error out (especially in those rare cases we forget to format a line item correctly)?
  • Updated blueprint view includes memory usage and calculation complexity
    • It's easy to find on Community how much memory is taken up by each line item format, and doing that math isn't hard using cell counts/text lengths, but it would be great to have that immediately available.
    • I'm also very intrigued at the mention of a view to a line item's calculation complexity. What does this mean? Is it just a link to Anapedia, or is there actually a notation of how complex the formula is? If the latter, making this universally available seems like it would be a huge help in instilling best practices in model building.

    Great questions @dameyer01 and thanks for the product feedback!

    While I look into tagging in the right person to share some thoughts here, what did you think of the new course? You're part of the early crew of Certified Master Anaplanners to have completed it, any tips/reactions for the broader group? Thanks!

    @JaredDolich

    Thanks for the link! I see you already asked about the "Cancel Calculation" feature would make its way back into Classic and the answer is no. =(

    @ChrisWeiss

    I thought it was a great practical overview of what Polaris means for the model builder, but I'll admit I'm still not sure I have a clear use case (and I'll be the first to admit I haven't been exposed to many use cases, so take my feedback with a grain of salt).

    I understand that Polaris is advantageous for modules with high dimensionality with naturally high levels of sparsity. In fact, it seems like Polaris operates better with sparsity. In general, though, I have found that models tend to end up having a mix of densely and sparsely populated data sets. Given that using the Polaris calculation engine applies to an entire workspace, and that data within Polaris models take up more memory, how does one ensure that Polaris is the right way to go for a model?

    (Apologies in advance if this has already been covered somewhere.)
