Use the card template library
The card template library allows page builders to create card templates to be used on other pages within the same app.
Page builders can save existing cards to the template library that have already been added to a page.
In designer mode, any existing card templates that are available to use are shown on the right-hand side of the screen, under the heading Card template library.
On this page
- Add a card from the template library to a board
- Add a card from the template library to a worksheet
- Edit a card template
- Save a card to the template library
- Remove a card from the template library
Add a card from the template library to a board
To make page building faster and easier, you can add card templates to a page from the template library — instead of creating new cards each time.
If you don’t have any cards in your template library, you need to create one, or save an existing card as a template.
To add a card from your template library:
-
Open the board you want to add the card to, in designer mode.
-
In the side panel, double click the name of the card template you want to add, or drag it onto the board.
If you have lots of card templates, you can search for the one you’re looking for in the Find field.
Once you’ve added the card template to the board, you can edit it.
-
Remember to click Publish in the top right-hand corner of the screen to save any changes.

Edit a card template
Edit a card template to change its source module, and any of its properties.
This section explains how to get started editing a card template. Once you’ve followed these instructions, you can edit the card template just like you would edit a card on a board or a worksheet.
To edit a card template:
-
Open a page in designer mode.
-
In the side panel, click the ellipsis (…) next to the card template you want to edit.
-
Click Edit.
The Card designer dialog displays.
You can now edit the card template in the usual way. See Add cards to a board for instructions on how to edit each card type.
Save a card to the template library
You can save a card that’s been added to a page as a template, so that it can be used on other pages.
Cards can only be used within the app in which they were created.
To save a card to the template library:
-
Open the page which contains the card you want to save, in designer mode.
-
Hover over the card you want to save, and click the ellipsis (…).
-
Click Save as template.
The Save card as template dialog is displayed.
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the card template.
Avoid icons, emojis, or any other special characters In names, as they may render inconsistently across different browsers, and make text unreadable.
-
Click Save.
- Click Publish to update the template library with your changes.
Remove a card from the template library
Removing a card from the template library won’t remove it from any pages where it’s being displayed.
Deleted templates can’t be recovered.
To remove a card from the template library:
-
Open a page in designer mode.
-
Under Card template library in the side panel, click the ellipsis (…) next to the card template you want to remove.
-
