This item has been identified as an outstanding known issue as of the Anaplan Excel Add-in 3.0 release on the 30th of August 2018; a workaround is provided. This is not an issue for Anaplan Excel Add-in 3.1.

Issue

When installing or uninstalling the Anaplan Excel Add-in version 3.0 can in some circumstances ask you to install Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable x86 even though it is already installed.

 Workaround

Please check with your IT department which solution is preferred.

There are two potential solutions to this issue.

This issue occurs due to the version of C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) that is installed being undetectable by the installer.

Solution 1

To work around this issue, please make a note of the version number of the C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) you have installed. This can be found in "Add or Remove Programs" in system settings. If it is 12.0.40660.0, uninstall it and install version 12.0.30501.0 provided by Microsoft from the following URL: https://www.microsoft.com/en-GB/download/details.aspx?id=40784

If you have 12.0.40660.0 and 12.0.30501.0 installed, uninstall 12.0.40660.0.

You should now be able to install/uninstall the Anaplan Excel Add-in version 3.0.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you reinstall version 12.0.40660.0 after following the above steps as other software may be reliant on this. This is provided by Microsoft and can be found at the following URL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/3179560/update-for-visual-c-2013-and-visual-c-redistributable-package

If you see this issue and do not have version 12.0.40660.0 of C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) installed, please contact support@anaplan.com

Solution 2

  • Open Excel
  • Go to File -> Options
  • Select 'Add-ins'
  • From the list, select the Anaplan Excel Add-in.
IMPORTANT: note the location of the add-in from the information section for later use. this is usually C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Programs\Anaplan\ExcelAddin but may vary depending on how the add-in was installed.
  • Under  'Manage' select 'COM' add-ins and click 'Go..'
  • Deselect the Anaplan add-in and click Ok
  • Close Excel

Next

Download the Microsoft Install and Uninstall troubleshooter tool from : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed

  • Run the tool and select Next
  • Select "Uninstalling"
  • When the list is populated, select the Anaplan Excel Add-in (The Add-in may be Single User or Multi User depending on the original installation) and click Next
  • Select "Yes, try uninstall"
  • The add-in should be uninstalled
  • Close the tool, and confirm the add-in is uninstalled from the "Add or Remove Programs" dialog in windows settings.

Finally

Using the location of the add-in we noted in the first steps, navigate to that location. Remove any files that are remaining in the Anaplan Excel Add-in folder (see below).
Version 3.0 of the Add-in should now be uninstalled.

If you are still unable to install/uninstall Version 3.0 of the Anaplan Excel Add-in, please contact support@anaplan.com.
