Limited User Licenses
Anaplan Limited Users can have many different definitions in Customer contracts. It is always important that you first review the contractual agreement before reporting user types and quantities to your Customers.
Examples of Limited User Definitions:
- A named individual authorized to access the Anaplan Service for the limited purpose of viewing and entering data no more than twelve (12) times per year. A Limited User is not a User and is not permitted to perform User activities.
- A User authorized to view and analyze modules and dashboards, run imports, and enter data.
- A User with read only access to dashboards.
- An Authorized User with the limited right and access to use the < Model Name> provided on the Anaplan Service subject to additional limitations.
- An Authorized User with the limited right to access the Anaplan Service solely to view and enter data in models or Applications designed to analyze the financial impact of < definition >
- An Authorized User with the limited right and access to use the < Model Name > provided on the Anaplan Service subject to additional limitations.
How do I see my user counts by type?
- You can review Customer Activity & User Account Reporting in Splunk
- You can also perform a Limited User Verification in Splunk to help you better define this role
How does this translate to a Limited User?
First, review your customer contract to see how a Limited User is defined.
Example: “A named individual authorized to access the Anaplan Service for the limited purpose of viewing and entering data no more than twelve (12) times per year. A Limited User is not a User and is not permitted to perform User activities.”
Use the reports linked above to help you narrow down your users to ensure you correctly report your totals. Using the definition above, we can see that the users in the blue box would be considered Limited Users as they have made < 12 value changes in the last 12 months.
Why is this so important?
Correctly tracking and reporting this data is important for many reasons.
- It ensures Customer’s are only using the licenses they are contractually allowed to have
- It informs the BP if the Customer needs more guidance on how to properly set up users
- It informs the BP that the Customer many need to purchase additional licenses (additional revenue)
- It may be a reminder for Customer’s to audit their Workspace(s)
