We found the Duplicate connections message confusing/misleading.

 

A user can have files open with duplicate connections, they just cannot refresh both.

 

Suggested text revision:

Duplicate connections detected.

If you want to refresh <filename being opened>, please close other workbooks which contain the same connections.

The standard "Refresh workbook" pop-up should not be displayed if a user attempts to refresh a file that has duplicate connections with an already opened file. 

 

This screen makes it appear that all connections in the file have been broken and will panic users. 

 

Instead, the user should be directed to close the files with duplicate connections and re-open only the one they need to refresh.
